Forcing myself to do this tonight so I don't wast my whole morning doing it tomorrow.  I'm not sure why, but planning the menu has been SO hard for me lately.  Even with Pinterest, it's just not something I want to do.  At all.  Ever.  But, it's my job, so I will just have to suck it up and get over it.  My family needs to eat, and it's my job to figure out what to feed them.  I sure am lucky to have that job, even if it's hard.

Recent Layouts

I said earlier that I've changed the way I scrap a little bit, and it seems to be working well for now.  I finally committed to these being done, so I have a bunch to post at once.  Three more pages for this year DONE! :)

Here's the journaling from this page.  Sometimes I don't think a page needs much journaling (or even a real title), but I had a lot of memories that couldn't be captured with photos that I wanted to make sure were recorded. :)

It was so much fun to watch Mackenzie play softball this season! We were a little worried at the start of the season because of the switch back to ASA, but although the league did make some things very frustrating (like new and different rules almost every game), it was still a great season! Mackenzie was on a really great team and the girls all got along so well. Her coach (who she also had the year before) was great too. Kenzie played first base, and was the leadoff hitter most games. Her catching and hitting improved so much as the season went on, and she got really good at stretching to make the catch at first.  Their team won the first tournament at the beginning of the year, and she ended the season with an inside the park home run! We are really looking forward to next year and watching her improve even more!

Scrapbook Friday

I haven't posted my layouts in a while, so here's what I've been working on the last couple weeks.

First up, Britt has a new kit out today, Cars Rule.  Here's my page I scrapped with it:

And here are a couple pages with more recent pics.

I've changed my scrapbooking style up a little bit recently.  It use to be that if I sat down to scrap a page and didn't finish it I probably never would.  But lately I've been taking pictures I love (usually really recent stuff) and popping them into a template.  Then whenever I feel like it I'll open the page and play with it a little bit, and then close it again.  I have several pages that I'm doing that with right now, and it seems to be working for me for now.

My new plan is to scrap as much of this year as I want to, recording memories and getting all those photos onto pages, and get them printed.  I figure if I stick with single pages only then it doesn't matter if I want to add another page in later, I can just move things around.  And I'm not going to force myself to scrap anything that I don't want to, even if I feel like it *should* be in the album (for some reason Easter pictures usually fall into that category for me). I think I should be able to get more done if I'm not hung up on one page that I don't feel motivated to do.  My kids love looking at the few books I've finished, so I really want to get more off the computer and into our home.
Of course, I'm still plugging away on my Disney album as well, but I'd really like to record today's memories also.

We'll see how that goes.  I feel like I'm always changing what my scrapbook plan is, and I'm never finishing anything.  Hopefully this will work to get something off the computer to actually be able to hold in our hands!

Summer!

It's officially summer around here!  We had a whirlwind of a week last week full of field trips, field days, and class parties.

N had a field trip to the local ice cream shop on Tuesday, and then another one to the farm store on Wednesday.  After his field trip Wednesday we went over to M's 4th & 5th grade picnic at the park too.

Here's N on his first day of preschool and his last day (which was Wednesday).  Where did my baby's cheeks go?!?  He looks so much older to me!

Thursday we had field day at the kids school.  Because M is in student council she was doing a game, which I went to help her with.  We had the balloon race, and it was a very windy day.  Made for an interesting game, but the kids all had fun.  After the games we hung out and watched the staff vs. 5th grade softball game.  All I could think about is how my BABY will be playing in that game next year (sniff!).
Friday was pretty low key.  R wanted me to be there for his "party", but all they did was watch a movie and eat ALL DAY LONG (that may be R's new favorite pastime these days, the boy can EAT!), so I just went in towards the end of the day and hung out for a bit.

Here are the older two on their first day and last day (Friday):

First day/last day of 4th grade (only one more year of elementary school! ):

First day/last day of 2nd grade:

We made our summer list last week, and started filling in our bubbles as soon as school was out.  We thought instead of just checking things off this year we'd write dates or little notes.  A lot of the stuff on there are things we plan to do more than once, so we thought this would be a fun way to do it.

I'm really looking forward to this summer and all the fun things we have planned.  I'm fully expecting it to fly by, but hopefully we'll be left with lots of good memories.

Can you spot the silly spelling mistake?  That's what happens when 3 kids are all yelling things at the same time. :)

Slacker

Yep, I've been a slacker.  I had this whole post started last week about I don't even remember what.  I was so excited to be done with all our evening commitments and be able to cook dinner again, and then it just didn't happen.  I got a bit of a cold, and we had a few evenings out, and with the end of school and all I ran out of steam.
But, it's summer now, and I need to get back in the swing of things at least somewhat.  I will do a separate post soon with our summer list and some first day/last day pics of the kiddos, but for now I need a menu.

Summer To-Do's: :)
Monday- Crabs camp
Tuesday- Crabs camp, dr apt.

Start of the Week Stuff

It's Monday again already, these weeks seem to be flying by lately!  We have 4 more weeks of school before summer, that's going to be here so soon!  I cannot wait, but at the same time I want my kids to quit growing up so fast!  Next year will be M's last year of elementary school!  How on earth did we get there already?  I'm so looking forward to enjoying our less busy time this summer, but I'm trying to enjoy the business of right now too.  I love watching my kids play baseball, and I don't want wish this time away.
That being said, I think we're finally on the down-hill side of the super busy season.  This week doesn't feel so over the top crazy, and I'm really happy about that!

To-Do's for the week:
Monday- grocery store, volunteer tea @ kids school, NOTHING in the evening!! :D
Tuesday- guitar, softball practice
Wednesday- work in R's class, baseball practice, softball game
Thursday- Costco, other errands in town, softball practice
Friday- dance
Saturday- double header for both kiddos (at the same time, in different towns)
Sunday- church

Menu:
Monday- leftovers from last night's bbq (chicken & potatoes)
Tuesday- breakfast
Wednesday- Baked Creamy Chicken Taquitos (frozen from extras I made last week)
Thursday- something with leftover steak...
Friday- homemade pizza
Saturday- pasta with meat sauce
Sunday-

We spent Mother's day up at my mom's, and it was nice enough that we were able to enjoy the pool for the first time this season!  I'm so excited to spend a lot of summer days up there soon!!  The kids had a great time jumping in over and over again. N took some time to warm up to the water again, but by the end of the day he was jumping in right along with the big kids (with his water wings on).
Here's a picture of me with my kids up there yesterday. :)

I'm sure I'll be posting a scrapbook layout of this one soon!  I just love it and can't wait to scrap it! :)

About that p52...

So, I'm kind of slacking on keeping track and posting my pictures these days, but I am still picking up the Nikon more often.  I decided to try a p52 with my Nikon because although I loved doing p365 on my phone last year (so much so that I'm doing it again this year), I found that I really didn't use my real camera much, and my photog skills were getting rusty.  My goal with this p52 has been to push myself with the Nikon and grow as a photographer, and I think it's working.  I don't think I'm going to be posting a weekly photo anymore, but I will still share when I get something I love, whether it's with my iPhone or my big girl camera. :)
I'm also scrapping this year again (something I took a break from last year with the p365).  I still scrapped last year obviously, I just worked on getting caught up on past years.  It's fun to be able to scrap current stuff again when I want to.  Here's a page I did with photos I took last weekend, got them scrapped before I even got them posted individually. :)

Start of the Week Stuff

Whew.  I'm tired!  We had one of those weekends where you really need a couple days to recover from it when it's over.  Saturday we took the divide and conquer approach. Matthew took M to her 3 tournament games an hour away, and I kept the boys and took R to his baseball game.  We had record-breaking tempters, and the boys took full advantage of it.  They were in their swim trunks by 9am and asking for me to set up the slip-n-slide.  We did the water table, kiddy pool, and after switching some hoses around I got the slip-n-slide set up for them.  After about 10 minutes of that running I realized it was going to completely flood the yard if it was on much longer, so I turned it off and pulled out the big blow up pool that we got when we lived in Redding.  I got it set up for them to play in for a bit and then headed to R's baseball game.  After the game they played in the pool some more and then we headed to meet Matthew and M at church.  When we got home at almost 8pm it was still 82° in our backyard, so the kids swam while I made a quick dinner.
Sunday we left the house at 7:30am to head back down for more softball.  It was the elimination part of the tournament, so we didn't know if we'd be there for one game, or all day. They won their first game, then had to wait for another game to be played before their next game.  They won the next one because the team they were playing had to forfeit.  After that they had to wait to for another game to see who they would be playing in the championship game.  They did great and ended up winning the whole thing, which was so awesome!!
This was my first experience with my kid competing, before this season they've never really kept score or had it count for anything.  It was so nerve-racking watching them play, way worse than those close Giants games!
Anyway, we didn't get home until 7 last night and we were all exhausted (except N, who napped in my arms on the hard bleachers during their last game). It was a fun weekend, but I am not feeling ready for this week at all.  Luckily it's not looking like it will be quite as busy as the last couple have been.

Here are a couple pictures from the weekend:

In the pool at 8pm

Right after winning the tournament
(M is on the bottom, second from the right)

To-Do's:

(National) Scrapbook Friday

It's a big weekend in the scrapping world, and Britt has lots planned to celebrate. She's got an awesome grab bag being released today that you won't want to miss!  Here's the page I scrapped with what's inside.

Start of the Week...

Busy.  I think I'll just start every weekly post until school is out with that.  This week feels especially busy, but I feel like I say that every week.  I won't even let myself look too closely at next week, just taking it as it comes right now.

To-Do's:
Monday- yearly check-ups for the big kids, baseball game, home group (not to mention all the picking up and dropping off involved with all 3 in school today, I don't even want to know how many times I will be driving though town)
Tuesday- grocery shopping, guitar, softball game
Wednesday- work in R's class, dentist for R, baseball practice
Thursday- softball game
Friday- dance
Saturday- baseball game, softball tournament (THREE games in one day!)
Sunday- church, softball (1-3 games depending on how they play)

Tuesday will be M's first softball game.  The team she was scheduled to play Friday had to reschedule and the Saturday teams decided they couldn't/didn't want to come into town, so they were canceled.  Again, really frustrated with this softball season with ASA!  So disorganized!  And now I just found out the weekend tournament schedule.  Three games in a town an hour away from us on Saturday (9am, 1:30pm, and 3pm), and 1-3 games again on Sunday.  NOT what I signed up for.  Way too much if you ask me.

I also have a ton of editing to do, as I shot my first wedding last weekend. :)

Anyway...

Menu:
Monday- snacks at baseball
Tuesday- crock pot chicken for burritos
Wednesday- pancakes, eggs, sausage
Thursday- speghetti
Friday- pizza
Saturday-
Sunday-

Start of the Week Stuff

Friday was R's birthday.  We didn't do a whole lot because we had his party the weekend before, and Saturday morning we left for SF to go to a Giants game!  We went down on Saturday, got to the city about 12, did some shopping at the Dugout Store, had lunch at the Public House outside the park, and then got in line to get through security.  It was a whirlwind of a day, but lots of fun!  The Giants played a good game, kind of boring with not a lot of hits, but they got the win, so that was good.  Little side note, we go to usually 2 or more games a season, and at least once a season (if not more) we see Timmy pitch, and we almost always see them loose.  Timmy has always been one of my least favorites, even when he was really good, so I was a little bummed that we were seeing him again, but he got us the win, so I guess I'll be okay with it.  You can bet I'll be counting out the pitching rotation next time we buy tickets to try and miss Timmy though.
Anyway, we spent the night in Pleasant Hill with Matthew's sisters and then did some shopping before heading back home.  We got home just before 8 last night and pretty much just went to bed.
All of that made for a very messy house this morning.  I've been cleaning up messes from R's birthday, and trying to unpack and do trip laundry, as well as get my week started.  Needless to say, I have no clue what we're having for dinner tonight, and we leave for baseball practice in half an hour.  So, I'm trying to throw together a menu really quickly now.

To-Do's: (not quite as busy of a week as last week thankfully!)
Monday- baseball practice
Tuesday- softball practice
Wednesday- dentist for R, baseball game
Thursday- nothing (hopefully it stays that way, last time I had an open day it ended up getting filled with an extra softball practice)
Friday- dance and a softball game (at the same time, ugh!)
Saturday- baseball game, two softball games (at least they're in the same town this time), and I'm shooting a wedding for a friend
Sunday- church, working second service in the 2&3 year olds

Menu:
Monday- spaghetti
Tuesday- crock pot refried beans for burritos
Wednesday- grilled pizza sandwiches
Thursday- honey lime tilapia, broccoli, and brown rice
Friday- homemade pizza
Saturday- something with chicken :)
Sunday-

Also need to make more granola (regular and peanut butter), waffles, tortillas (maybe), and I want to try these homemade cheese-its.

Britt and Krista have some fun new alphas that go perfectly with all the Project Mouse goodies they've been releasing.  Here's the page I did with one of the alphas. :)

I'm sure there will be more to come later this week (we've got some FUN stuff coming up!), but I took this one last night at R's game and wanted to share. :)

I love that he's getting to play catcher so much!  He's GOOD at it, and it's really fun to watch him play.  It's just such a big switch from last season, and I'm so proud of him!  Last year he was the kid in right field chewing on his glove or playing in the dirt, and this year he's catching!  Last year he maybe got a couple hits off the machine, but mostly hit off the tee (they get 4 pitches and then go to the tee), this year he has hit off the machine every time!  He's been out in the backyard practicing all year, and it really shows!!  I know I've said it before, and I'm not trying to brag, I'm just so proud of how hard he's worked and how much he has improved! :)

Start of the Week Stuff

Busy.  That's pretty much it for the next two months.  With two kids playing baseball/softball, plus guitar and dance, we don't have a day all week without an activity scheduled for at least one of them.  I love watching them play, but I'm very thankful that this season is short!

Schedule for the week-
Monday- game for R (small group if it gets rained out)
Tuesday- practice for both kids (at the same time, in different places, of course)
Wednesday- work in R's class, game for R
Thursday- practice for M
Friday- R's birthday! Dance for M

I'm pretty frustrated with M's softball this year.  Last year she played under the local Little League and it was great, but this year they've switched to ASA, which is what she played in the year before Little League, and it's pretty disorganized.  We had a terrible experience with it the first year, which is why we switched, but I was hopeful that having the Little League people be involved would make for a better experience.  So far not so much.  I do love her coach, which is good, but they organization still seems very unorganized.  We have yet to get a game schedule, and are getting practice schedules one week at a time.  I would really love to know in advance how many days we're going to be doubled up with practices/games for both kids, and if we might actually have a day or two free.  It's just frustrating to put other plans on hold until I get a schedule for her.
Both kids are enjoying it though.  R has been working hard practicing in the backyard all year long, and it really shows!  He has improved so much from last season!  We could have probably had him tryout and move up, but we chose to keep him in the same level as last year and let him build his confidence this season.  He's getting to play catcher a lot, which he loves, and he's hitting off the pitching machine every time!  It's been lots of fun to watch his games!

So, now to come up with a menu of quick and/or portable dinners that are still healthy and (somewhat) real. :)

Monday- crock pot salso chicken quesadillas (going to try to make them ahead and bring them to the game maybe)
Tuesday- salad and whole wheat biscuits
Wednesday- pasta with meat sauce
Thursday-
Friday- (rice krispies to R's class)

Scrapbook Friday

Britt and Krista have an amazing new Project Mouse bundle out today, it's a princess addition!  This set makes me want to go back and rescrap so many pictures of M when she was little and loving all things pink and princessy. *sigh*
I did remember that we met Fairy Godmother at our breakfast with Minnie, so I was able to do a super girly page for that. :)

I did another page yesterday too! I just loved these pics so much I had to scrap them right away! :)
